SONY ERICSSON T707:TWINKLING FACEBOOK-SUPPORTED FASHION PHONE

Fashionable, slim, stylish, fabulous, attractive, alluring…..are a series of words not really enough to describe the beauty of tennis goddess Maria Sharapova. And by using the same words, we can depict this newly-released phone’s physical appearance….
Tempting to hold is perhaps the first impression potential buyers might have at the first time they take a glimpse at this gorgeous phone, which is as gorgeous as Maria.
BANDS
Quadband GSM, 3G & HSDPA (data transfer)
DESIGN
T707 is clearly born mainly to show off its slim and dashing design. Decorated with twinkling and swirling light effect, this phone is a real 'seducer' to female potential buyers. This unique feature may be activated for some callers only. The colors available are pink and black, as far as I'm concerned. The front part is elegantly glossy, just like any other Sony Ericsson fashion phone series. As you can see, the keypads are flat, widely separated, which enables big-thumbed folks to explore the phone features conveniently. Material types used are quite classy, though its back cover is apparently made of plastic.
DIMENSION
T 707 dimension is 9.3 x 5 x 1.41 cms and weighs only 95 grams. Light enough to hide inside your pocket.
SCREEN
Like any normal clamshell phones, T707 does have two screens. Its 126x38 pixel external screen is monochrome, which is of course not something to be proud of. The internal screen, however, is quite the opposite. Measuring 2.2 inches in width, it is absolutely a pleasure to the beholders' eyes.
USER INTERFACE
As we unfold T707, a set of fresh icons arranged in grid view welcomes us. Compared to  ones of the previously launched phones, T707's icons are novel. Luckily, we can change the menu view into three other options; rotate, list and the other one which can only be activated along with a certain theme.
MULTIMEDIA
This phone is classified into T series, not W series. Thus, it's relatively understandable that its music player performance isn't as 'deafening' as the W series. Considring its status as a fashion phone, its musical performance isn't really bad, to be honest. The loudspeaker T707 has doesn't offer a loud sound output. But wearing the earbuds provided in the package will fix this drawback.
CAMERA
We can have so much fun by using 3.2 Mp camera T707 has to save our images and record our worth remembering scenes. The absence of flash light and autofocus is the main reason why this camera can't capture images more perfectly indoor. But the good news is we're supplied with Foto Fix and Photo DJ. The fun thing is you can directly send the image you just capture to your facebook account, site or blog. Quite an accomplishment for Sony Ericsson!
CONNECTIVITY
Equipped with bluetooth v 2.0 (A2DP), T707 enables us to listen to music wirelessly. The other possible option of connectivity is USB port, but the problem is we have to buy the cable separately.
PROMINENT FEATURE: FACEBOOK
This may be the most captivating feature T707 can offer to the potential customers. Because the feature is incorporated with T707's system, users are able to monitor any friends' updated status provided that the phone is on (unlike the other 3rd party FB application). No doubt that Facebook's popularity is expected to help its sales, too.
MEMORY
We can store files as much as 100 MB to its internal memory. However, the available space is only about 80 MB because it's shared memory. There's an external memory slot, but we have to allocate more budget on purchasing memory card as there's no free memory card provided by the manufacturer.
BATTERY
Surviving in two days fueled with a 900 mAh battery is what T707 can do in a single charge cycle.

Nokia 5800:Awesome UI, Flawed Compatibility

This high-end gadget looks simple in hand, but don’t get cheated, what you can see isn’t what you get. Several newly-released features and enhancements are embedded in Nokia 5800. What are they? Can this phone dethrone the popularity of Apple’s iPhone?

BANDS

HSDPA 3.6 MBPs, EDGE, GPRS 10

OPERATING SYSTEM
Nokia 5800 -the newest Xpress Music of Nokia- brings the most updated version of Symbian: Symbian S60 5th edition. It might be a plus and a minus simultaneously. The plus is the prestige of having the most advanced technology planted in your phone. The minus, however, is you’ll have more troubles and difficulties to find suitable and compatible applications for this type of Nokia. So at least for months, it’s kind of hard to find any software or mobile apps developers that issue products compatible perfectly and operable on Nokia 5800.

PROCESSOR
ARM 11.369 Mhz

SCREEN
Touch screen, TFT 16.7 M colors, 640×360 pixels, 3.2″

CAMERA
Primary:3.2 MP+autofocus
Secondary: QCIF, for videocall
Definitely not the best camera phone thus far, but it’s tagged as a music phone, not a camera phone. So the presence of not-very-impressive camera is quite excusable.

DESIGN
Weighing only 109 grams and having 11.1×5.17×1.55 cms dimension, Nokia 5800 isn’t quite a bulky phone in your shirt pocket. It’s not really light, though. But it’s moderate. Its candibar shape and absence of alphanumeric keypads reaffirm the impression of simplicity, as what we find in any other smart phone with touch screen. There’re 3 buttons we can find in the lower part of Nokia 5800 which enable users to make or end calls, and access the menu offerred inside.

INTERFACE
The elderly could be glad to use this phone as they don’t have to scrutinize the small fonts which torture their weakened eyes. Nokia 5800’s fonts are big enough for users to touch using thumb. For those whose thumbs are not small enough to press the menu conveniently, Nokia has figure out another way, a stylus. But as I said beforehand, with a new Nokia 5800, come uniqueness and surprises. Some hidden shortcuts can be found if you are careful enough to observe, and this is such something to enjoy.

PROMINENT FEATURES
It’s one of Nokia’s Xpress Music series phones, so it’s ridiculous for Nokia 5800 not to be armed with the latest, most sophisticated music player software version. The music player of Nokia 5800 is simply irresistible, flawless…Something no one can’t complain about.
GPS is still a luxurious, killer feature everyone expects to have on their phones. What makes users relieved is that Nokia is said to have improved the performance of the map and navigation system. But the downside is…you can freely and fully use the navigation feature for only a week.
The internet connection includes HSDPA 3.6 mbps and WIFI. Besides that, this phone accomodates conventional connections via EDGE and GPRS. So you practically have nothing to worry about.
In this web 2.0 era, blogging is a necessity for some folks, and Nokia 5800 provides the ease to access, view, or post something to the blog you have anytime and anywhere. You can even upload images directly from the phone. What a trouble-free way of blogging!

BATTERY
It takes about two days for Nokia 5800 to use up all the energy saved in the 1320 mAh battery the manufacturer has provided.

Blackberry 9630 Tour: No WiFi, CDMA & GSM in One

Research in Motion (RIM) released a new species of its device called “Blackberry 9630 Tour”. Tour is equipped with a novel set of concepts, and above all it’s a great bargain!

BANDS
With quadband GSM (1900/1800/900/850 MHz) and dualband CDMA (800/1900 MHz), Tour is a mobile device ready to be held anywhere around the globe without worrying about the band incompatibility issue.

OPERATING SYSTEM
The type of processor embedded in Tour is able to work at 528 MHz speed; the operating system is Blackberry OS version 4.7.1, which makes Tour the first non-touch UI blackberry. In terms of system speed and stability, Tour is relatively trouble-free. To sum up, the system performance is quite impressive.

USER INTERFACE
As stated above, Tour is non touch user interface blackberry phone. Coming out with the latest version of operation system doesn’t make Tour have considerable difference from its predecessors, like Bold and Javelin.

SCREEN
When it comes to screen resolution, Tour is Javelin’s compatriot. The wide 480x 360 pixels TFT screen is 2.4 inch in width and offers 65,536 colors to spoil its users’ sight.

CAMERA
Tour has a 3.2-megapixel camera, which is armed with autofocus and flash.

DESIGN AND DIMENSION
Tour is moderate in size. Weighing 109.9 grams only and having 10.9×6x1.35 cm dimension, Tour is not a brick in your shirt pocket, though it’s actually not really light.

CONNECTIVITY
Bluetooth version 2.0 and micro USB cable are the ultimate connectivity channels Tour has inside. Like what you’ve read in the title, Tour is presented without WIFI, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it has a snail-pace data transfer speed. Two provided GSM and CDMA channels are ready to work harder for you.

BLACKBERRY APPLICATIONS AND SERVICE
Push mail feature is definitely something Tour has to be proud of. Blackberry Messenger is another favorite application everyone wants to have. It enables you to access high speed chatting and file sharing. Bad news for you, the Document To Go office application is trial version only, so you must purchase the full version later.

MEMORY
Tour’s internal memory is 256 MB. You may say it’s not too spacious for your tons of files, but don’t worry it has a MicroSD card external slot.

BATTERY
Powered by a Lithium-ion 1400 mAh battery, Tour is ready to be used for about 2 days.

LG KM 900 Arena: Stylish & Silverish Beauty with 3D Interface

Viewty,Cookie,Renoir…and now it’s time for this dainty wide-screened cell phone to shine brighter than any of its predecessors. By releasing Arena, LG seems to be quite sure about how consumers will respond to it. S-Class is what a new user interface LG tries to offer this time, and Arena is the first LG phone using this newly invented UI. Will Arena make our consumer-darling iPhone 3G lose its edge? Only time will tell.

Let’s take a look at ‘her’ features now…

BANDS
UMTS 2100, QUADBAND GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

DESIGN
Small, compact size is definitely a plus. And miss Arena is seemingly flawless in terms of design. The dimension is 10.59×5.53×1.2 cms, weighing 105 grams only,so it’s really phonelike, unlike the more costly, heavier, and thicker iPhone. There’s practically no keypads stretched on ‘her’ body, other than call,menu/multitasking,and end button, which don’t really look like normal buttons. The color is silverish white, or whitish silver, if one may say. Simply put, the design is simply irressistible, impeccable.

SCREEN AND TOUCH USER INTERFACE
We may see someone’s traits through his/her eyes, and we can do the same thing to cell phones. Screen is a cell phone’s eyes which tells literally anything embedded in it.
Our slim Miss Arena tries to captivate its potential users’ heart by providing the latest UI called S-Class,which is allegedly devised to compete with iPhone’s touch UI. A 16-million-colored TFT capacitive touch screen with 3 inches diagonal and 480×800 pixels density is said to be sensitive to finger press or touch, but not to stylush. And the drawback is quite classic, TFT is great under shade or indoor, but sucks outdoor.

CAMERA
Schneider Kreuznach apparently loves to cooperate with LG since their last colaboration,LG KC 550,if I’m not mistaken. A 5-MP,flash,photography-software-supported camera which satisfies even the pros. Oddly enough, this phone can play DIVX video file but only can record a 3GP video file. It can be a downside for the phone overall performance .

CONNECTIVITY
What I hate from LG is that LG sometimes doesn’t even care about how its users connect their phones to another gadget, by wire/cable. Our miss Arena can only be connected to your PC via LG USB cable which of course isn’t compatible with any other phones. Therefore, if you lose or break it, you have an annoying problem to solve. Data and connection lines are various. Except the conventional USB cable, you can find WI-FI,and Bluetooth A2DP.

MULTIMEDIA
Arena provides complete entertainment features ranging from FM radio to internet-based applications which you can directly use without even downloading them first.

GPS
GPS receiver is provided here, though the access is rather hard even when using the HSDPA network.

BATTERY
With 1000 mAh, the stylish Arena can last for approximately 2 days (normal usage). HSDPA,GPS,and a wide touch screen are a deadly combination to drain the battery’s energy.

TIPS ON PURCHASING NETBOOKS

I happened to watch a talkshow on Metro TV. Some men were fervently discussing about how to purchase a good netbook.  "Hmmm, think I gotta watch this...". Then I texted someone to watch it, as I know he's longed for a notebook since forever but his budget doesn't permit. He writes a lot  and pursues a dream of being an accomplished and wealthy author like J. K. Rowling. So I think buying a netbook is the best solution for him. It was Monday morning and he replied my text saying, "You know I love my bulky desktop, coz I can't afford to buy a notebook. desktop isn't portable but at the very least it's financially friendly to me...." I was wondering whether he had hangover that morning or heavily drunk or just woke up and texted me back while regaining consciousness. I replied patiently, " Netbook...not notebook. They're different, dude".
Onto business, let's take a look at its specifications:

  • smaller size, lighter weight
  • armed with Intel Atom processor
  • no optical drive (external DVD writer sold separately; approx. costs IDR 700,000)
  • 3G built-in modem
  • slots: USB ports, bluetooth
  • webcam (resolution ranging from 0.3 to 1.3 MP)
  • screen diagonal: 7'-10'
  • office softwares ready
  • Wi-Fi
  • more affordable prices (starting from IDR 3 million)
  • battery (3 cells-3hours/ 6 cells-6 hours)

Some say the down economy we're experiencing now has triggered the skyrocketing fame of netbooks among users. Forget the space consuming desktop, or the unaffordable, wide and heavy laptop, since netbooks provide you the ease of mobility. The competitive pricing of netbooks positively contributes to the potential buyers' shift of opinion. The second notebook market is gradually losing its edge simply because buying a brand new gadget is easier than selecting second hand notebooks. Unlike buying a new good, you have to sweat just to compare one to another, and maybe make a little, not-so-profound research about the specs. It's time consuming! With IDR 3 million ready in your hand, you can grab a netbook produced by local manufacturers.
Some flaws we must be aware of are the less user friendly recovery method (with the absence of DVD writer, inserting driver CD is impossible), lower quality and non-upgradable feature of VGA (which makes gaming is less convenient), separately sold hardwares (modem and DVD writer, which means more burden on budget!).
The invited experts also suggested some tips to maintain netbook performance and lengthen its durability.
  • avoid over-charging: never leave your netbook (and notebook or any electronic devices you have) recharged and connected to the power supply longer than necessary. Unplug as soon as the battery is fully recharged. You save earth by saving energy and save your dear device too, at the same time.
  • buy a thicker softcase: in case you drop your netbook, the thick softcase may absorb the shock that may result in netbook's failure to work properly.
  • make sure it's turned off: always make sure your netbook is off when you keep it in the softcase because the heat resulted by the netbook may destruct the components.
